2004

October
The BBPG had its first meeting


November
A public meeting at Haven High School was attended by over 500 people who support a proposed Boston Bypass

A petition was started, in association with the Boston Standard that was signed by over 12,000 people in a matter of weeks

December
A march through Boston town centre to present the petition to the Council at the Municipal Buildings

A stall at the 2004 Christmas market at the Princess Royal Stadium to promote the BBPG

2005

January
A business meeting at Haven High School was attended by a large number of local business leaders to gain support for a Boston Bypass

Announcement by Lincolnshire County Council of a grant of 390,000 to fund a traffic survey for Boston. Mark Simmonds M.P. said this would not have been made without the intervention of the BBPG

Lobbying of County Councilors on the steps of County Hall for the support of a Boston Bypass

March
A public meeting at Kirton village hall attended by over 300 local people who voted unanimously against the proposed Southern Economic Distributor Road but for a Boston Bypass

April
A public meeting was held at Boston College for the residents of Fishtoft who unanimously voted against the proposed Dock Link Road but for a Boston Bypass

2006

January.

Meeting with new Chief Executive, Linconshire County Council.

February.

BBPG holds its first Annual General Meeting.

BBPG complete and submit timing survey to the Transport consultants undertaking Bostons traffic study.Along with this, concerns regarding some aspects of the Study were raised. We await a response. See news for details.

March.

BBPG attends the first of the proposed informal meetings with cross party representatives of Boston Borough Council.

April

BBPG members attend meeting of Federation of Small Businesses.

May.

BBPG members attend meeting of the LCC Transport Project Development group followed by discussion with officials.

June

BBPG Executive meet with Boston Borough Councils newly elected leadership.

July

BBPG meet with the team from Jacobs Babtie(Transport Study team)to discuss and challenge provisional results from the transport study, also to outline our concerns regarding the planning and process of the forcoming Public consultation Days.

BBPG meet with the full Cabinet of Boston Borough Council to discuss the above and other major issues. This meeting was lengthy and to be reconvened after the summer recess.

On July 15th and 19th the BBPG campaign in Boston town centre to ensure as many people as possible are aware and Have Their Say, during the Public Consultation taking place in the Market Place.

August

Chair of BBPG attends Boston Rotary Club meeting to talk about the BBPG campaign and to outline progress.

October

The third of a series of meetings was held between the BBPG and Boston Borough Councillors. At this meeting Councillors were asked to identify a suitable corridor which could be used for any future major road development dependent upon the outcome of the Transport Study.Members of the BBPG requested that Boston Borough Councillors lobbied for

a) the construction of any major road development to be undertaken in sections

b) retention of approx. £9 million previously allocated to the Dock Link road scheme to fund the first section of a new major road development.

Several members on the BBPG have also become members of the newly formed Boston Bypass Independents and three have been elected to the Executive Committee

Three Lincolnshire County Councillors representing the Borough of Boston attended the full meeting of the October Boston Bypass Pressure Group

2007

Boston Bypass Independent (BBI) party councilors are overwhelmingly elected.

September

BBPG express concern of misrepresentation and the integrity of BBI policy.

BBPG withdraws support form BBI
